Beautiful and important projects are underway in Cottonera so that there are nicer and more accessible places in the area. This came from a visit made by the Prime Minister Robert Abela in Isla, Bormla, Birgu and Kalkara, where he followed many works on projects and closely followed initiatives and investments that are being made for the good of the community. In recent years we have continued to see regeneration in Cottonera with ongoing projects among others. At the entrance of the Isla there is the restoration project including that which was done on the iconic structure of the guardhouse, the ramparts and the tunnels at the entrance of the Isla. This is while in Birgu two new bridges are being placed under Sant’Anľlu, with one of them being accessible only for people on foot to have a safe passage in one of the most historic parts of the place. In Kalkara a wonderful project is underway which will continue to give life to the heart of the place where an open square will be created again in front of the parish Church, which will also be for the community.

“The regeneration that I saw is also the preservation of the characteristics of Cottonera,” stressed the Prime Minister Robert Abela in a message among others to the representatives of the unions and the Mayors and the Councilors in Cottonera, which they were with the Capuchins in a building that has also seen an ongoing restoration and is nearing its end. Dr. Abela noted how every community deserves the best quality of life and good services and here he pointed to what he visited on Friday, namely the Bormla Day Center, which in recent months has started to provide a service in favor of active aging. Regarding Bormla, the Prime Minister also pointed out that we are seeing a top level project with a home for the elderly that offers a quality service in a beautiful building.

The Prime Minister Robert Abela also praised the contribution of the associations in the life of the community, where he noted the work being done with the help of the Government so that, among others, the Birgu Regatta Club has a better place that help in its operation.
