The Paceville Town Center Management Committee was launched

The Paceville Town Center Management Committee was launched. This committee will be an organ within the Agency for the Regeneration of Tourist Areas and will involve several representatives of the public and private sectors that operate in Paceville, including the Maltese Hoteliers and Restaurants Association. (MHRA), the San Điljan Local Council, the Police Force, the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA), the Association for Catering Establishments and the private sector.

The ultimate goal will be that through this committee for the first time a locality in Malta will acquire the Purple Flag. This is a recognition through which an area that involves tourist activity and entertainment meets criteria that involve higher quality standards when it comes to the commercial field, infrastructure, security, cleanliness and environment in general.

These details were announced in a news conference by the Minister for Tourism and Public Cleanliness Clayton Bartolo in the presence of the CEO of the Agency for the Regeneration of Tourist Areas Dennis Vella, the Chairman of Paceville Town Center Management Committee Phillip Fenech and Fr. Hillary Tagliaferro on behalf of the Millennium Chapel.

The Minister for Tourism and Public Cleanliness Clayton Bartolo pointed out that Paceville is going through a big transformation in what are new projects and so this can create both opportunities and inconveniences until the projects are completed. “The objectives of the Town Center Management committee for Paceville will consist of a collaboration between the private and public sectors that will meet regularly to discuss and implement proposals intended for the beautification of an area, research on commercial activities, sustainability of an urban center, social and residential elements and also various challenges related to this area that welcomes thousands of visitors almost every day”, stressed Minister Clayton Bartolo.

He added that the Purple Flag accreditation does not focus only on the entertainment sector, but analyzes the location holistically. In the same activity, a three-year agreement was signed through which the Agency for the Regeneration of Tourist Areas will help financially to strengthen the services provided by the Millennium Chapel and Wish Others Well.
