Your contribution can lead to better results for our country – Prime Minister Robert Abela during a meeting with the Youth Advisory Forum

In a meeting with the nine young members of the Youth Advisory Forum, Prime Minister Robert Abela said that their contribution to this platform could lead to better results for our country. The Prime Minister said this in introductory comments during a meeting of the Youth Advisory Forum whose members were chosen after a public call.

Eight members were chosen after a selection process while the representative of the National Youth Council was nominated by the Council itself. Thus the nine members of this first Youth Advisory Forum will be serving for a total of eighteen months with the aim of giving their ideas on themes of national importance and not only what concerns to the young people.

The Prime Minister said that our country is the place where the aspirations of Maltese and Gozitan youth can be achieved. He stressed that this new platform is precisely the tool that will see that this is really accomplished. “Aspirations are common. Young people want us to have good jobs, to live in a beautiful country, in a clean country. Having quality time with family. Safe and tranquil country. And a beautiful environment”, said Dr. Abela. He also said that the young people want a country in peace with its neighboring countries and in the region around us and around the rest of the world.

The Prime Minister also spoke about the Government’s work in this new year and gave a list of projects and initiatives that have been completed and that the people are already enjoying. Here he referred to the investment in Nadur Primary School, the call that came out for modernization work on the electricity sub-station near the Mater Dei Hospital and other sub-stations to strengthen the distribution of -light. He mentioned how the increases in pensions and the increase in the Carers’ Grant for those elderly who have a carer with them at home have started to be distributed.

In the environmental field, the Prime Minister referred to the best results ever achieved by the Wasteserv in recycling, where the country had a substantial reduction in unseparated waste in the black bag and a phenomenal increase in separated organic waste . This while in that which is irregular immigration, in 2023 Malta relocated and returned more irregular immigrants than there were arrivals during the past year.
