PN says education sector in crisis: Not so says government

The Nationalist Party said that the education sector is in a crisis because during the past 12 weeks of the scholastic year, 13 educators have resigned from State schools alone. The party said that 6 of these were working in primary schools, while the other 7 were in middle and secondary schools.

The Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation notes misleading behavior by the Opposition Spokesman for Education Justin Schembri, who quoted only half of the answers given in parliamentary questions .

The Ministry clarifies again that for the number of educators who have left the sector, all have been hired other than one who is expected to be hired in the coming days.

In the face of repeated irresponsible behavior by a directionless Opposition with one purpose to disrupt, the Ministry of Education also reiterates that as was said from the beginning of the negotiations for a new sectoral agreement for educators, the Government put forward substantial increases for -educators who will lead to the educators having an appropriate financial package, sustainable and with an improvement in the conditions of their profession.
