BOV Premiership: Floriana open six point gap at top

Floriana’s impressive season continued with a 3-0 drubbing of Mosta to extend their lead at the top of the BOV Premiership, six points clear of second placed Hamrun Spartans who play Gzira on Wednesday.

Early first half goals from De Sousa and Garcia sent Floriana on their way. Mosta were reduced to ten men when Brincat was red-carded shortly after the break with Veselji adding a third for Floriana in the closing minutes to seal the win and the points.

Marsaxlokk are now just a point behind Hamrun following a 3-0 win against Sta Lucia. Gomez Junior put Marsaxlokk in front after just four minutes,  Duane Bonnici made it 2-0 in the hour mark and Ayonfe Sunday Akinbule added the third late in the game to leave Marsaxlokk in third place, level on points with Sliema Wanderers who earlier beat Balzan thanks to a solitary goal from Samuel Gomez de Mata.

A goal in each half saw Hibernians clinch a deserved if unexpected win over Valletta.

Apap found himself free in the box to head Hibs in front just before the break. It was 2-0 shortly after the hour thanks to Alex Bruno De Silva. A big win for Hibernians who are still ten points adrift of leaders Floriana.
