Prime Minister Robert Abela visited the SiGMA summit, which attracted more than 25,000 delegates under one roof  and 1,000 exhibitors from different countries in Malta making it  one of the biggest igaming fairs from around the world.
In a visit to the Malta Maritime Hub, Marsa, the Prime Minister noted that every year this fair is showing how our country is a center of excellence for the gaming world. In fact, the Prime Minister explained that Malta is the choice of 351 gaming companies, which mean around 16,000 careers in this sector.

With the eco-system, talent and good governance we are offering, we are attracting global businesses and start-ups that translate into quality jobs. This while the gaming industry is also continuing to contribute to economic growth, with the added value of the sector reaching 9.2% of the total added value in our country in 2022. If one includes the indirect effect of this industry, the economic contribution of this sector rises to 12.4% of the total value added in 2022.
Prime Minister Robert Abela reiterated that this is what we mean when we say that we want to continue to strengthen the Maltese economy for the benefit of Gozitan and Maltese families. With this sector it reflects the policy operated by the Government that attracts investment that offers quality careers and strengthens the economy of our country with which we support families and businesses. He concluded that as announced in the budget for next year this Government will continue to invest in this sector including the implementation of the National esports strategy and various initiatives for education and training for -development of digital games continues to strengthen. We will also continue to support start-ups including the Seed Investment Scheme which will offer incentives in the form of tax credits. This is while we are investing in the talents of our young people with a substantial increase in stipends in particular courses to address the need for more trained people in such crucial sectors for the economic transition of our country.
