Following surprise attacks by Hamas on targets in Gaza, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says: “We are at war and we will win.”
At least 22 people were reported to have been killed when Hamas fired thousands of rockets into Israel from the Gaza Strip.
Palestine’s President Mahmoud Abbas said the Palestinian people have the right to defend themselves against the “terror of settlers and occupation of troops”.
Israel has already retaliated, launching air strikes on Gaza City.
