Thousands evacuated as wildfires strike Tenerife again

Thousands have been evacuated as wildfires broke out again on a holiday island in Tenerife.

The popular tourist region was ravaged by wildfires in August and strong winds and high temperatures have contributed to fires breaking out again.

The blaze is centred on the towns of Santa Ursula and La Orotava in the mountainous northeast of the island, away from the main tourist areas in Tenerife’s southwest.
