Hamas agrees to ceasefire: Israel says decision is a “ruse”

Hamas has accepted a ceasefire deal, according to the Palestinian militant group.

The deal has been put forward by Qatar and Egypt but Israel says it is only a “ruse” and will not accept the deal. An Israeli official has said Hamas has agreed to a “softened” proposal which is “not acceptable to Israel”.

This move by Hamas comes as Israel has advised citizens to evacuate the southern city of Rafah ahead of an Israeli military operation.
