Cabinet with Youth: Prime Minister Robert Abela announces the establishment of the Youth Advisory Forum

Prime Minister Robert Abela announced the establishment of the Youth Advisory Forum which was approved during a Cabinet meeting held at the Maltese College of Arts, Science and Technology, MCAST.

At the Paola  campus, a Cabinet was convened with young people where the Prime Minister and the Cabinet of Ministers heard from different young people their ideas and thoughts for the present and the future of this country. The young people spoke on various themes from environmental ones, to job opportunities, quality of life, entrepreneurship and also about the justice sector.

The Prime Minister Robert Abela defined this meeting of the Cabinet with the young people as an important one and said that this should not have been a one-time exercise. He therefore announced the establishment of the Youth Advisory Forum for the Office of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet of Ministers.

This structured consultative forum will bring together young people from different fields who are regularly consulted on themes of national importance and which even the Cabinet is or will discuss. In the time to come, more details will be given including when the applications open after a public call for those who wish to be part of this forum. This while the Government will continue to work closely with the National Youth Council.

Prime Minister Robert Abela listened carefully to every young man and woman who spoke in the Cabinet and made his remarks about how the Government he leads must remain one that listens.

“Your aspirations and ambitions are ours too,” stressed Dr. Abela and he means a main principle that the Government is embracing so that every young man and woman can fulfill their dreams. He and dialoguing with the youth, the Prime Minister noted how in the Cabinet and the Parliamentary Group of the Government there are many young people who make an appropriate representation of the youth. He said that young people are the ones most able to embrace the belief of ‘Malta Together’, where there are no prejudices and together we continue to give this country a bright future.
