Malta will host Greece in a friendly match at the National Stadium on Thursday 17th November, kick-off at 6pm.
This game will be played four days prior to the already confirmed friendly match against Ireland. Both games will act as preparation for the upcoming UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers that kick off as from March 2023 with an away game against North Macedonia on March 23rd and a home match three days later against European Champions Italy.
This is not the first time that Malta faces Greece who are in the 52nd place in the FIFA/Coca Cola World Ranking. Malta has met Greece 10 times along the years, registering 7 defeats, 2 draws and a win. The win was a European Championship Qualifier that was played on home soil on the 23rd of February 1975. Malta won 2-0. The last time the two countries met was 11 years ago, on the 4th of June 2011, during another European Championship qualifier, Greece won 3-1.
