BOV Premiership: Hamrun stay top, B’kara falter and Hibs continue to climb

Hamrun Spartans needed a late goal to see off a stubborn Mosta and maintain their lead in the premiership on Saturday.

Luke Montebello put Spartans in front from the penalty spot middway through the first half only to be pegged back on the hour mark by Mosta thanks to a Christ Ememe header. Matthew Guillaumier rescued the points for Hamrun late in the second half to keep Hamrun clear at the top.

Second placed Gzira missed the chance to narrow the gap after being held to a goal-less draw by Valletta.

A goal in each half by Jurgen Degabriele helped Hibernians past Gudja Ud who took an early lead through Matias Muchardi.

Walter Omar Serrano’s late strike gave Marsaxlokk precious 1-0 win over Birkirkara to move them up to 8th in table.
