Money management from a young age

“Build your Future, Be Smart about Money”, is a new theme launched as part of the initiative known as “GEMMA”, a digital platform aimed at helping and educating families about money management. The theme for this year revolves around the concept of saving money from a young age, where children have more knowledge about the importance and value of money, spending with control, and sustainability among others .

Children in schools in Malta and Gozo will be given the opportunity to create educational material that includes drawing and writing that promotes innovative ideas of saving and managing money. This competition is open to all schools, from primary to secondary level.

These details were announced by the Minister for Social Policy and Children’s Rights Michael Falzon during a news conference during which he emphasized the importance of early education on this subject.

“We want to create awareness and knowledge from a young age about the importance of savings. That is why we are going down to the children’s level and conveying the information in a suitable and understandable way. Today we are also launching a new logo of “GEMMA”, we have continued to renew and update not only the appearance of the platform but also through innovative projects and exercises in our schools”, stated Minister Michael Falzon.

Everything revolves around the concept that financial knowledge is an integral part of every stage of life, and therefore the need for more knowledge so that each person has the necessary skills to make their decisions.

“GEMMA” is collaborating with several strategic partners, such as the Association of Local Councils, several banks, and unions that represent workers.
