Boris Johnson to face confidence vote today

Prime Minister Boris Johnson

A vote of confidence in Boris Johnson’s leadership takes place at 6pm today as the threshold of 54 letters from Tory MPs is exceeded.

Graham Brady, the chair of the 1922 Committee that represents backbench Tories, said the threshold of 15% of MPs seeking a confidence vote, numbering 54, “has been exceeded”.

Boris Johnson is to address MP’s before the vote in an effort to drum up support to keep him in office.
