Air Malta Launches Madrid route in the Spanish Capital

Air Malta has launched its three times weekly services to the Spanish capital at the prestigious Palace of Santoña, home of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Madrid.

The event was organised in partnership with the Malta Tourism Authority, the Maltese Ambassador in Spain, and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Madrid.

Over 70 Spanish entrepreneurs, travel agents and travel trade press attended the event that included presentations and speeches by the Maltese Ambassador – Daniel Azzopardi, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Madrid – Augusto de Castañeda
García, Air Malta’s Director in Spain – Eva Bretos, Air Malta RegionalbSales Manager – Jose Espartero and Monika Diez from the Malta Tourism Authority in Spain.

During the event Ambassador Azzopardi said, “A well interconnected European transport network is one of the pre-conditions for a genuinely functioning internal European market. The recently re-established Air Malta route to Madrid contributes positively in this regard. As a next step
we felt that it would be ideal to introduce the route to the Madrid business community via the Chamber of Commerce of Madrid. The Chamber has over half a million members operating in a range of industries which may require Air Malta’s services and we hope that this event will unlock
potential in this regard”.

Ms Bretos added, “This event is the finishing touch to our successfulbrestart of operations in Spain and allowed our local community tobrediscover the potential of Malta as both a tourist and investment destination. We are very grateful to all our local business partners for the excellent reception of this new direct connection between Madrid and Malta.”

“Malta is a very attractive destination for Spanish travellers due to its proximity and its outstanding cultural and leisure offer. In addition, we are linked by deep historical ties and a similar Mediterranean lifestyle.
We are very happy to welcome tourists from the country again and hope that the re-establishment of air connections such as Air Malta will help us to strengthen our position in this strategic market”, explained Ms Diez.
