Agreement with WHO on training for carers of the elderly with dementia

Minister for Senior Citizens and Active Ageing Michael Farrugia launches iSupport in collaboration with WHO

The Minister for the Elderly and Active Aging Michael Farrugia announced that an agreement has been signed with the World Health Organization (WHO) to develop a training program designed to provide education, skills training, and support. to carers of the elderly with dementia, including their relatives. This training program will be provided free of charge.

Malta is among the first countries to feel the need to start implementing this training program.

The Minister for the Elderly and Active Aging Michael Farrugia announced this during a press conference during which he explained how local studies estimate that currently in Malta around 7,000 families have members with dementia, and this number is expected to increase in the coming years.
