Leave Ukraine now: Britain advises nationals

British nationals in Ukraine have been warned not to expect a military evacuation and urged to leave “immediately by any means possible” amid fears of a Russian invasion.

America, Holland, Australia and New Zealand have issued similar warnings to their citizens.

Britain’s defence minister said that no military airlift could be expected, unlike the rescue missions that were carried out in Afghanistan last summer.

The US has issued the same warning to its nationals saying that if hostilities begin, civilans could be among the casualities.

Tensions between Russia and Ukraine remain extremely high with Russia demanding that Ukraine does not join NATO.

US President Joe Biden is expected to hold telephone talks with Russian President Vladimar Putin later today in a bid to get a pull-back in tensions.
