Transfer of the Blue Badge scheme from CRPD to Support Agency has been announced from 1 March

The Minister for Inclusion, Quality of Life and Volunteering Julia Farrugia Portelli has launched a simplification process, through which the Blue Badge scheme will be transferred from the Commission for the Rights of Persons with Disability (CRPD) for a Support Agency.

At a press conference, Minister Julia Farrugia Portelli announced that this change will take effect from 1 March this year, with the aim of simplifying services and providing from one place. Through this transfer, services for people with disabilities will be more centralized and provided holistically by the national agency, Aġenzija Sapport.

The Minister explained that the process of applying for the card will still be done through an application completed by the person’s doctor. This application is then forwarded to a board that evaluates these applications and appeals from these decisions are upheld in writing by Aġenzija Sapport. Applications will also be available in electronic form for the benefit of applicants and will be available on the Support Agency website.
