Boris Johnson says sorry for “booze party”: Parliament and people not impressed

Prime Minister Boris Johnson

Boris Johnson is facing the biggest challenge yet as prime minister when his apology for attending a “booze party” at Downing Street went down like a lead balloon among MP’s and the general public.

Condemned by Tory and Opposition MP’s and with calls for him to resign coming from Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer and Scottish Conservative Leader Doug las Ross, Boris Johnson’s bluster deserted him as he pleaded for MP’s to wait for the result of an inquiry by top civil servant Sue Gray into the alleged Downing Street party and not make any hasty decisions.

His apology did not go down well with the public, Sky News reporting a poll showing Labour with a 10% lead over the Conservatives, their biggest lead in almost ten years.
