He stressed that while it is good that we are continuing to attract new economic niches to our country, it is necessary that we continue to increase this wealth by reducing bureaucratic obstacles. It was here that he announced the publication of the call for the Central Data Repository from here and a few more weeks. “Here we are talking about a centralized system with which enterprises that need to go through the scrutiny of competent entities, have one centralized system from which to collect the documents on a company,” stressed Dr. Abela.

He meant that this is the way to find innovative and modern solutions that facilitate the work of enterprises. He also announced the Credit Review Office which will be starting to operate in the coming weeks. He said that the function of this office will be to reconcile between banks and businesses regarding loans given to the same business. “This is how the investment facilitator works. We do this because we know that the investment in the country, the trust in Malta, then reflects in an investment in the people,” claimed the Prime Minister.

Regarding the taxation regime, Prime Minister Robert Abela stressed that while the Government is creating a better environment for those who invest in our country, it is also working on rules and legislation coming from abroad. He said that often what is true for large European countries is not true for a small country like ours. “Therefore it is very important that the Government and the representatives of our country in institutions such as the European Parliament always put the interest of our country first,” said Dr. Abela.

Here he assured the commercial community that just as the Government was a shield for him in the face of shocks in international prices, the same will happen in the face of changes in international legislation.

The Prime Minister concluded by saying that the Government will continue to be a source of support for businesses because the Government’s vision depends on the success of the companies in our country. “As a Government with a social soul, we have as a priority, that everyone progresses and reaches their aspirations. For this to happen we need an economy that always grows and creates new opportunities”, said the Prime Minister. “Only then can our country remain the most dynamic economy in Europe”.
