The United States government has evacuated around 37,000 people from crisis-hit Afghanistan and relocated another 42,000 since August 14, confirmed the White House on Monday.
In an official statement, the White House said that from August 22 to 23, the US military has operated 28 flights evacuating 10,400 people from Kabul.
As many as 61 coalition aircraft have evacuated approximately 5,900 people, it added.
US military are due to complete withdrawal from Afghanistan on 31st August.
Taliban spokesperson Dr Suhail Shaheen said: “It’s a red line. President Biden announced that on 31 August they would withdraw all their military forces. So if they extend it that means they are extending occupation while there is no need for that.”
He added: “If the US or UK were to seek additional time to continue evacuations – the answer is no. Or there would be consequences.
aliban spokesman said the date is a “redline” and cannot be extended.
