An investment of € 300,000 in landscaping on the Xemxija beach

Minister for Tourism and Consumer Protection Clayton Bartolo inaugurates regeneration project at Xemxija Xemxija Promenade, Xemxija

An investment of € 300,000 in landscaping has been inaugurated on the Xemxija beach. These works, which were completed within three months, involved the renovation of the beach railing, substantial improvements in paving, more environmental areas as well as new benches and lighting.

These details were announced at a news conference by the Minister for Tourism and Consumer Protection Clayton Bartolo in the presence of the Chief Executive of the Malta Tourism Authority Johann Buttigieg.

Minister Clayton Bartolo described this project as the first of its kind which is symbolically leading to a regeneration of mere maintenance in terms of tourist infrastructure.

“It makes no sense to encourage the private sector to invest without doing our part as a government. This should be the new mindset we need to embark on in the future. The quality and detail that we want to continue to go into remains crucial to continue to improve the tourism product that we offer as a country, “said Minister Clayton Bartolo.

Minister Bartolo added that this project is based on the principles of efficiency, accessibility and sustainability.

“Our goal is to give our people and tourists more spaces and areas that are accessible to people of all ages. The difficult times we have experienced in recent months make us cherish more than ever the freedom to enjoy our loved ones in a better country than we had before the pandemic, “said Minister Clayton Bartolo.

The Chief Executive of the Malta Tourism Authority, Johann Buttigieg, said that the MTA will remain committed to continuing to support this type of investment in order to ensure that the tourism product continues to be one of quality and sustainable.
