Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced a new lockdown for England, saying that this measure is being taken because of the rapid rise of the new strain of coronavirus across the country.
Among the measures from now people across the country must:
Stay at home
Work from home where possible
Go out only for essential shopping
Go out for exercise
Go out to help a vunerable person or attend medical appointment.
Schools are to remain closed.
Pubs and restaurants can only serve take-away but no alcohol to be sold.
Zoos and some sporting venues to close
Elite sports can continue
These measures are expected to last till mid-February.
