Elderly 89-year old is 13th victim of coronavirus

The Ministry of Health has just been informed that an 89-year-old man died while being positive with Covid-19.

The patient was admitted to Mater Dei Hospital on August 23 for various health conditions, where he was swabbed for Covid-19 which proved negative, however the elderly man was treated in isolation at Mater Dei Hospital because he had come in contact with a positive person while in the community.

He was discharged from Mater Dei Hospital on the morning of August 31, without any symptoms and was sent home. His condition deteriorated rapidly and he was readmitted to the Emergency Department, where he was confirmed positive for Covid-19. He died at Mater Dei Hospital earlier today.

The Ministry of Health, while offering condolences to the relatives of the elderly, calls on the people to continue to follow the appeals of the Department of Health.
