The Ministry for Gozo gives the palm to Gozitan fishermen free of charge

At a press conference, the Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri announced the opening of applications for the Ministry for Gozo to distribute free palm branches to full-time and part-time Gozitan fishermen.

Minister Camilleri explained that palm leaves are necessary for fishermen to prepare trellis for the dolphin season, and explained that, “as another month opens the dolphin season, the government has thought to provide thousands of palm leaves to fishermen to help with their preparations. “

The Ministry for Gozo, through workers within the Ministry, has taken care to treat the palm trees around the island of Gozo and collect them while taking the leaves that are on the outside without making the no damage to the tree.

Minister Camilleri concluded by saying that the provision of free palm to Gozitan fishermen will continue to be done every year in order to reduce their costs.

Applications will be available for collection by the Ministry for Gozo during office hours between 7:00 am and 1:00 pm from Monday to Friday.
