We need better performance says Malta coach

Malta National team coach Pietro Ghedin said that Malta needs a better performance against Lithuania than they gave against England on Saturday.

Speaking to journalists ahead of tonight’s World Cup qualifier in Vilnias, he said that Malta would be playing an international match on an artifical pitch for the first time.

The temperature was anothe factor, freezing conditions, not something the Maltese players were accostomed to.

Asked to compare tonight’s game with a friendly at Ta’Qali last year which Malta won, Ghedin said that Lithuania had made many changes since then and playing at home would mean Malta faced a very dangerous opponent.

On changes to the team he said that Alex Muscat had returned to Malta because his wife had just given birth so that meant at least one change.
