Inquiry launched into CapitalOne police investigation

Three retired judges – Joseph Camilleri, Lawrence Quintano and Philip Sciberras, will head up an inquiry into the police’s handling of the CapitalOne investigation.

At a press conference on Monday afternoon Justice Minister Owen Bonnici said that the three judges will have until the 15 January to conclude their inquiry and that they will be asked to investigate four allegations that emerged from a report in MaltaToday.

That story centres on allegations that the Maltese authorities kept information hidden from their Dutch counterparts and that they failed to cooperate with Dutch authorities, alledged illegal business transactions and an allegation that investigations were dropped after an MP’s name cropped up.
