Update: LNG tanker expected to arrive in Malta on Sunday

The LNG tanker which will supply the new gas driven power station at Delimara is expected to arrive in Malta Sunday.

Sources informed live news malta that the vessel is expected to come in, in the coming hours unless it encounters bad weather.

The floating storage unit is an integral part of the project that will lead to the transition to gas, which will provide Malta with cleaner and safer energy.

The LNG will anchor off Hurds Bank for refuelling before returning out to sea for further trials prior to returning and anchoring at Delimara.

It has been described as one of the safest systems to operate gas powered energy.

“We have been to the Delimara site for a safety inspection prior to this training session and we saw that it was totally state of the art engineered by AECOM – the American engineer company. So the LNG industry within our opinion is a safe industry, as safe as LPG industry or the oil industry”, said consultant engineer Ronald Peeters.
