Sliema Wanderers defeated Birkirkara 2-1 to earn their first three points in the BOV Premier League.
The Wanderers took the lead just before the break and doubled their lead late in the second half.
Alex Muscat scored a penalty in first half stoppage time and Michel Wisdom Salomo pounced on a mistake by the keeper to make it 2-0.
B’Kara managed to pull one back inside the last five minutes but were unable to find an equaliser.
The loss means that B’Kara misssed the chance to take over at the top and they now share second place with Hibernians.
