The Republic of Malta welcomes the signing of the Al Ula Declaration, and the signature of the Arab Republic of Egypt on the Al-Ula Statement, at the 41st Summit of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf held on the 5th of January 2021.
Applauding such developments, given their potential to strengthen regional stability and restore cooperation amongst Gulf Cooperation Council member states in a variety of fields, the Republic of Malta commends the mediatory role continuously played in this context by the State of Kuwait as well as the efforts made by the United States of America.
In this spirit, Malta looks forward to strengthening its long-standing partnership with the region, including through the European Union, in order to further advance peace, tolerance and understanding.
