The Chocolate Festival returns to Ħamrun with more attractions and experiences for the whole family

Minister for Local Government and Public Works Alison Zerafa Civelli as Hamrun Chocolate Fest announced

On Saturday, October 17th, Ħamrun will be hosting the sixteenth edition of the Chocolate Festival, an annual event that attracts thousands of visitors and which this year will offer new and innovative experiences for the whole family.

This year’s edition will feature original attractions, including a scene from The Lion King made of chocolate. This was specially created for the occasion by chocolatiers Tiziano Cassar and Chris Zammit. In addition to the chocolate exhibitions, visitors will also have the opportunity to discover and taste unusual products and creations.

Details of the festival were announced by the Minister for Local Government and Public Works Alison Zerafa Civelli and the Mayor of Ħamrun Christian Sammut. This year, the event will bring together around 90 participants who will be exhibiting chocolate-related products.

Minister Alison Zerafa Civelli explained that events such as these strengthen the identity of our localities, promote local talent and create opportunities for the community and local businesses, while contributing to economic and tourism growth.

“The Government remains committed to supporting initiatives that place local councils and communities at the centre of cultural and social life, while creating more opportunities for the economic and tourist development of Maltese localities,” said Minister Alison Zerafa Civelli.

The Mayor of Ħamrun, Christian Sammut, stressed the importance of this event for the local community, which each year continues to strengthen the identity of Ħamrun and attract more visitors to the locality, while giving space to local talent and enterprise.

During their visit, Minister Zerafa Civelli and the Mayor also visited one of the exhibitions that will be on display during the chocolate festival, entitled Storja fil-Għoli. This exhibition is being put on by the San Gejtanu Assembly Group on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the construction of the dome.

The streets of Ħamrun will come to life with a varied programme of live music, singers, bands, local musical groups, performances and entertainment for all ages. The festival also offers an opportunity for the locality to continue promoting itself as a centre of cultural, creative and community activity.

The Chocolate Festival is organised by the Ħamrun Local Council, with the support of the Ministry for Local Government and Public Works and the Malta Tourism Authority.

The Strawberry Festival remains an event that unites the community, creativity and local enterprise, while offering the public an opportunity to enjoy a different experience in the heart of Ħamrun.
