The second edition of the “Together We Shine” festival has been announced, which will take place on Sunday, 25th October, at the San Klement Family Park, Żabbar, between noon and 7.30pm. The event is a family and community initiative, in collaboration with voluntary organisations and community groups, and is organised by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector within the Ministry for Inclusion and Volunteering, with the assistance of Project Green who provided the use of the park.
Throughout the day, the public will have the opportunity to meet various voluntary organisations and learn more about their work and services in the community. The programme will also include a range of activities for the whole family, with a particular emphasis on children and young people. Among the activities will be an interactive children’s area with creative and craft activities, nature-related activities, obstacle courses and science experiments, as well as exhibitions and presentations by community groups involved in music, art and sport.
Minister for Inclusion and Volunteering Julia Farrugia explained that, “Inclusion begins when every person feels welcomed, appreciated and able to contribute to the community. As a Government, we want this to be a reality in everyday life, and voluntary organisations are essential partners in achieving this goal. Through their work, they create opportunities for participation, build bonds between people and provide support where needed. ‘Together We Shine’ is a space where families can meet, discover this work and find ways to get involved. We will continue to strengthen our support for the voluntary sector, because every investment in it is an investment in a fairer, more united and more inclusive society.”
For his part, the Chief Executive of the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector Mauro Pace Parascandolo explained that, “This initiative is another of many that continue to give space to voluntary organisations to meet with the public, showcase their work and encourage more people to get involved in the community and volunteering. In this way we continue to promote the importance of bringing families, communities and the voluntary sector together in an informal and fun environment for everyone”.
