The International Kite and Wind Festival will return to the San Dimitri area in Għarb, Gozo, from 16 to 18 October 2026, Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri has announced. The event is expected to attract thousands of visitors to the island.
The announcement was made during an activity held at the ARB Complex, where children and elderly people came together for a Pre-Kite Festival event.
The festival will bring together kite enthusiasts and participants from different countries for a celebration that has become an established fixture on Gozo’s cultural calendar.
Minister Clint Camilleri said the International Kite and Wind Festival combines creativity, culture and entertainment, while providing an opportunity for people of different ages and nationalities to come together.
“It is wonderful to see initiatives like these offering experiences for both children and older people, creating a space where families and the public can enjoy moments of entertainment together. Through events such as this, Għarb and Gozo continue to offer experiences for both residents and visitors, while providing a platform for creativity,” Minister Camilleri said.
This year’s festival will feature spectacular kite displays, interactive activities and entertainment for the whole family, encouraging creativity, participation and cultural exchange.
Għarb Mayor David Apap said final preparations were underway and expressed confidence that this year’s festival would be as successful as previous editions.
He announced that night-time shows would also be introduced on Friday and Saturday, weather permitting, in the same San Dimitri area.
Mayor Apap encouraged visitors to use the Park and Ride service from the car park in Victoria, Gozo, wherever possible. Those travelling by private vehicle were urged to follow the instructions of traffic marshals stationed along the roads to help minimise congestion and ensure smoother access to the festival site.
He said these measures would help visitors reach the venue more efficiently and enjoy the San Dimitri area and the kite displays.
Minister Camilleri concluded by inviting the public to attend the International Kite and Wind Festival in Għarb and enjoy the programme of activities prepared for the occasion.
