Labour Deputy Leader Alex Agius Saliba says that allegations calling into question the allocation of EU funds for marketing and communications services are nothing short of a political frame-up.
In a video published on Friday, MEP Alex Agius Saliba described the investigation as a “political frame-up”, adding that the mudslinging was done to ruin his chances as Vice President of the European Socialists in the upcoming election
The case revolves around alleged irregularities surrounding a procurement process for marketing and communications services provided to his former MEP office.
Agius Saliba said the procurement involved three quotations from different companies and that the process was supported by documentation. He said all three companies contested for the bid.
He strongly defended the procurement process linked to his former European Parliament office, insisting that the procedure was carried out in line with the applicable rules and that the work commissioned was fully documented.
Agius Saliba stressed that, as an MEP, he was not responsible for conducting the procurement procedure itself.
