Enemalta expects to restore power in the last remaining Gozo localities in around six hours, as jointing works continue on the remaining damaged high-voltage cable on Comino.
Once the repairs are completed and the cable passes the necessary final tests, the third high-voltage cable supplying Gozo will be back online.
Until then, the available electricity supply will be managed to provide relief to
different areas which may result in temporary interruptions in some areas during the evening, including in places where power has already returned.
In the meantime, mobile generators have been connected to substations in different localities, providing temporary supply while work on Comino continues.
Enemalta Chairman Ryan Fava, who is in Comino with the technical teams, said the works are progressing so that the cable can be tested and brought back online.
“We recognise that many people have now spent long hours without electricity, due to the complexity of the works involved in these high voltage cables and our teams will continue working through the evening to restore power.
“In the meantime, the available network and temporary generators are being used to maintain electricity supply to as many customers as possible,” Fava said.
Enemalta said it will continue to provide further updates.
