Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri at launch of new schemes to strengthen quality jobs and continue to drive sustainable growth in Gozo

The Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri has announced 4 incentive schemes to further stimulate economic and operational progress in Gozo. These are: The Supporting Sustainable Quality Employment Scheme, the Supporting Knowledge based Sectors in Gozo Scheme, the Supporting Marketing Initiatives for the Accommodation Sector in Gozo Scheme and the Promoting Gozo’s Niche Tourism Markets Scheme.

Minister Camilleri stated that “While unemployment in Gozo is practically non-existent, the objective of some of the schemes is to incentivise employers to continue offering value-added jobs while supporting more stable jobs with competitive conditions. In recent years, economic progress in Gozo has been unprecedented and according to the most recent statistics from the National Statistics Office, the Gross Domestic Product has increased by 61% in the last four years. In the same period, we have had significant increases in sectors considered high value, including the Finance and Insurance sector which saw a 38% increase in employment, while the Information and Communication sector saw an increase of 36%.”

The Supporting Sustainable Quality Employment Scheme aims to support jobs that are more stable and at the same time offer more competitive wages. Among the various eligibility criteria, the job must be in Gozo while the employee must also be resident in Gozo. The job must have been generated from November 2025 onwards. In the last two years, this scheme has generated €348,000 in incentives.

The Supporting Knowledge based Sectors in Gozo Scheme is aimed at further incentivising value-added jobs. Eligible jobs are those in Gozo, while the employee is resident in Gozo. The job must have been generated from November 2025 onwards. In the last two years, this scheme has provided €122,000 in incentives with 60% going to the legal, finance and digital sectors.

The Supporting Marketing Initiatives for the Accommodation Sector in Gozo Scheme offers support to the tourist accommodation sectors to launch more digital and professional promotional campaigns, with the objective of making value-added tourism more targeted.

The Promoting Gozo’s Niche Tourism Markets Scheme offers support to operators in the sector to participate in international tourism fairs and carry out promotional campaigns so that Gozo continues to be presented as an experiential destination.

Minister Clint Camilleri emphasised that these schemes are part of a clear vision for a stronger and more sustainable Gozo, where economic growth goes hand in hand with the quality of life of residents. “We will continue to invest in measures that create new opportunities, strengthen strategic sectors and place Gozo at the forefront as a modern, resilient and innovative economy,” concluded the Minister.
