Prime Minister Robert Abela met with President Myriam Spiteri Debono and discussed the ongoing stalemate between the Government and Opposition to elect a new Chief Justice.
Following that meeting, Prime Minister Robert Abela spoke to journalists.
“This evening, the President of Malta informed me that the process of appointing a Chief Justice is the sole responsibility of Parliament. Accordingly, discussions must take place between myself and the Leader of the Opposition as has been the case in recent weeks. I have been informed that the President will also communicate this message to the Leader of the Opposition in light of the request he himself made this morning”.
