During an operation on Monday, the police arrested four men and a woman in connection with drug trafficking, money laundering and participation in a criminal organisation.
Simultaneous searches carried out at residences in Msida, Sliema and Swieqi led to the discovery of 13kgs of substances suspected to be cocaine, cannabis resin and cannabis grass, with an estimated street value of €250,000, as well as jewellery and designer clothing valued at around €150,000 and over €386,000 in cash. Two vehicles and a firearm, which was reported as stolen, were also seized.
A Magisterial Inquiry has been opened and investigations are ongoing.
