The Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri together with the Għarb Local Council officially inaugurated the therapeutic swimming pool at the ARB Complex, a project that concretely enhances the quality of life, health and inclusiveness within the Gozitan community.
Despite its small size, this swimming pool has been designed with special care to offer a therapeutic, rehabilitative and relaxation service to all who use it, in a quiet and safe environment.
Minister Clint Camilleri stated that this complex was built using both European and local funds, where “tonight the therapeutic swimming pool was also opened, which will serve a social purpose, apart from the fact that there will be an opportunity for the people of Għarb and the surrounding area, this swimming pool is aimed at a number of services, services that include children and people with special needs, the elderly and all those who need therapy. And therefore, this will also be adding to the added value of investment in the sports sector that we have in Rabat, Gozo. However, even here, when it comes to therapy for various uses.”
Mayor of Għarb David Apap explained how “this swimming pool is complementary to what the Central Government has just accomplished, an Olympic-sized swimming pool which thanks to Clint Camilleri, Minister for Gozo, this project has also become a reality. This therapeutic swimming pool is something that can be complementary so that people can also use this heated pool which is properly heated.”
This professional and specialized facility is ideal for young children, the elderly, people with disabilities and those who require water therapy or rehabilitative support. The use of the swimming pool will be carried out in a controlled manner and in a limited number of people, between 15 and 18 people at a time, depending on the type of session. This limit is essential to maintain a high level of safety and so that everyone who uses it receives individual and professional attention.
The facility will offer various services including aquatic therapy, aquatic sessions for young children, relaxation therapy, services and programs for people with disabilities, a safe environment for families who need specific support and therapeutic activities suitable for all ages. This pool is part of a broader vision for the ARB Complex: to continue to strengthen itself as a center of community services and spaces for social, educational and quality of life activities.
Minister Clint Camilleri expressed his gratitude to everyone who participated in this work because this is an example of how investment in the community can lead to services that truly make a difference in the quality of life of citizens. He concluded by thanking the Għarb Local Council which was once again at the forefront when it comes to investments and good use of funds to carry out this project.
