Guest Experience at The Phoenicia Malta Wins Leading Hotels of The World Award

The Phoenicia Malta-receives award for Remarkable Experiences at the LHW Membership Awards

The authentic, heritage-rich experiences at Malta’s iconic luxury hotel have earned global recognition via the 2025 Remarkable Experiences Award.

The Phoenicia Malta has been named the winner of the Leading Hotels of the World
(LHW) 2025 Remarkable Experiences Award, securing one of the most competitive and
respected global hospitality honours.

Announced at the LHW Membership Awards Gala in Bangkok on 22 November, as part
of the 2025 Annual Convention, the award places the hotel among the very best in
international luxury hospitality. This year’s Remarkable Experiences Award from LHW
– the world’s largest collection of independent luxury hotels, with more than 425
members in over 80 countries – celebrates hotels that invite guests to explore their
destination in ways that feel original, thoughtful and rooted in local heritage.

Selected from a shortlist that also included renowned properties in Singapore, Florence,
Marbella and Honolulu, The Phoenicia Malta was recognised for its commitment to
crafting meaningful guest experiences shaped by authenticity, cultural insight and a
deep sense of place.

The Phoenicia Malta is Malta’s first five-star hotel, which opened its doors in 1947 at the
gate of Valletta – recently named the best city in the world in Condé Nast Traveller’s
2025 Readers’ Choice Awards.

Securing the win, the hotel’s submission highlighted the reimagining of Phoenicia Spa &
Wellness around a 16th-century fortification wall uncovered during construction, with
plans swiftly changed to embrace the unique archaeological find as the centrepiece of
the hotel’s luxury wellness space.

The Phoenicia Malta’s dedication to cultural storytelling and preservation took the
global limelight. From the recreation of Malta’s 1964 Independence State Banquet to
immersive historical dinners at the Inquisitor’s Palace, the hotel works in partnership
with local historians, artists and heritage institutions to bring Malta’s past into the
present.

Guests can also access exclusive programmes such as the Leaders Club Immersive
Experience, which offers behind-the-scenes access to the world’s largest collection of
Edward Caruana Dingli paintings and to Valletta’s historic Caponier Tunnel, guided by
the hotel’s long-serving Ambassador.

The Phoenicia Malta’s position as an artistic and culinary destination also contributed to
its win, as did its reputation for world-class, personalised service. The Artist in
Residence programme transforms the Palm Court Lounge into a living gallery, while
seasonal experiences – from tableside-crafted tiramisu at Contessa to Nights Under theStars during summer at Bastion Pool, Bar & Restaurant – ensure local heritage and
culture inform every moment of the guest journey.

“We are honoured to receive the Remarkable Experiences Award, especially alongside
such exceptional finalists,” says Robyn Pratt, General Manager at The Phoenicia Malta.
“This recognition means a great deal to our team. We believe that true luxury grows
from connection, so we take pride in creating experiences that reflect Malta’s story as
much as our own. We want our guests to experience a sense of connection to the island,
its culture and its history, as they explore the unique beauty of Malta and its capital city
on our doorstep, Valletta. The world’s best city starts here.”
