The Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri announced that today, Triq Patri Ġiaċintu Camenzuli, which will be part of the bypass for Triq Marsalforn, will be opened to the public after a lot of work has been done on it over the past few weeks.
This major infrastructural project in Gozo will ensure that access to and from the popular Marsalforn beach is not only improved but also reduces the volume of traffic from the heart of Victoria.
Minister Clint Camilleri stated that “during these two days, more than 3,000 square metres of tarmac was provided at this site so that, from today, anyone heading to Marsalforn can start using this road.”
In addition to the tarmac work, this road was rebuilt, its base was strengthened and all services were rerouted, including a service culvert. A system of rainwater culverts was also built to collect rainwater and eventually transfer it to the Kapuċini Valley, a valley surrounded by agricultural land.
This project is being carried out with the aim of ensuring that the road environment associated with this part of the island remains as intact as possible. This follows several discussions held with entities and stakeholders, including environmental organisations.
Work on this project will continue and intensify in the coming days.
