UKIP leadership hopeful Steven Woolfe was taken to hospital after being punched in the face by a fellow MEP at the European Parliament in Strasbourg but is now said to be conscious.
Medical authorities had said that Mr Woolfe was in a life-threatening condition in hospital but he now reportedtop be concious although his condition remains serious.
Mr Woolfe announced on Wednesday he will stand as a candidate for the party’s leadership after Diane James stepped down.
