Britain’s Deputy PM resigns for breaching ministerial code of ethics

Angela Rayner has resigned as deputy prime minister and housing secretary after admitting she did not pay enough tax on her second home.

Ethics Adviser Sir Laurie Magnus which found that Rayner had breached the ministerial code.

She has also quit as deputy leader of the Labour Party, an elected post.

Rayner admitted failing to pay the full amount of tax on a second home she bought. She said she had been told she did pay enough tax but it would appear not to be the case.

Prime Minister Sir Kerr Starmer is now reshuffling his cabinet.
