From the 1st of June, a system of Resident Priority Parking will come into effect for a number of roads in Gudja that are located in the area close to the Malta International Airport.
This is after for a number of years, the residents faced problems as the parking in these streets was being taken by people who leave their cars parked in this area for several days while they are away. Therefore, the Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works, in consultation with the Gudja Local Council, has worked on a system that will help to address this issue effectively. The rules that will come into force from June 1 will see that: Parking lots will be exclusively reserved for residents between 20:00 and 07:00. Unauthorized vehicles will be towed:
to effectively enforce this regulation, unauthorized vehicles parked during restricted hours will be towed, thus freeing up space for residents.

The Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works Chris Bonett explained that these measures aim to provide a better quality of life for all the residents of Gudja, while ensuring that the spaces for parking to be utilized in an efficient and fair manner.
“Projects like this and many others continue to show the full commitment that this government has to continue listening to the community and doing what is necessary. I look forward to more projects and schemes of this kind so that we can always provide peace of mind to the people,” concluded Minister Bonett.
The Mayor of Gudja, Marija Sara Vella Gafà, showed her appreciation for the support of the government that listened to the council’s request and worked to carry out these initiatives while she claimed that the local council will continue to work for the good of the Gudja community.
The Gudja Local Council will have the responsibility of the logistical implementation of the system and therefore the residents who live in the affected streets will be contacted by the local council in the coming days.
