The Southern Regional Council, which incorporates twelve local councils, benefited from a grant from the LESA agency following a request it submitted for the purchase of an electric van to be used for community purposes .
During the presentation of the electric van to the regional council, the Minister for the Interior, Security and Work Byron Camilleri reminded that in the last three years, more than €3.25 million have been allocated by the LESA agency to carry out various projects in the localities in Malta and Gozo. He said that in the coming days the renewal of the LESA scheme will be announced for another three years so that this agency can continue to invest in various projects that are brought forward by the local councils in order to benefit the diverse communities in the Maltese Islands.
“The government remains committed to supporting investment in projects that affect and improve the quality of life of the community,” said Minister Camilleri.
Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli pointed out that one of the main objectives of the regional councils is to support and assist the local councils within them in their work. She said that this electric van will be another necessary and useful tool in the work of the Southern Regional Council. She praised the commitment of the regional council in obtaining the funds for this van, through which it will be strengthening its service to the twelve local councils within it.
Also present for this ceremony were the President of the Southern Regional Council, Jesmond Aquilina, and the CEO of the LESA Agency, Svetlick Flores.
