The Ministry for Health and Active Aging has announced that as promised, the call for tenders has been published to carry out the work on the old people’s home in Msida.

With an investment of over €13.5 million, the Elderly Home in Msida will be rebuilt. The house that was demolished had not been extensively renovated for many years and used to house 64 elderly people. Therefore it was decided to rebuild it so that it can accommodate more than 114 elderly people and be able to offer services of the highest level. The decision was also made to relocate the elderly who lived in this house.

In the planning stage, not only was the quality of life of the elderly taken into consideration, but the environmental aspect of this project was also given importance. Thus the call for tenders requires that this house be built with high standards in favor of more efficiency in the use of energy and importance is also being given to the aesthetics of the building.

Earlier this year, the government had also announced that a call for tenders had been issued to build a new home for the elderly in Bormla. This further demonstrates the investment that the government is making to ensure that top quality residences are being offered to our seniors.
