Newly regenerated community space inaugurated in Santa Luċija social housing

In the past year, the Ministry for Social and Affordable Accommodation inaugurated three regeneration projects in the social housing areas in Marsa, Mosta and Santa Luċija.

With co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of over €2.8 million, these three projects resulted in improved quality of life for 445 residents who live in over 50 social housing blocks.

This was announced by Minister for Social and Affordable Accommodation Roderick Galdes during the inauguration of the third community project in the Santa Luċija social housing area.

The minister explained that this project includes enhanced accessibility through the addition of ramps, the planting of new trees, and the installation of solar panels that will generate electricity for the area.

Minister Roderick Galdes said that these three projects demonstrate Government’s commitment to combining the values of a better quality of life and sustainability for hundreds of families. “We are committed to continue providing families a decent home, while seeing that the environment surrounding social housing is of the highest quality. This is being implemented by Government as we are inaugurating a number of social housing buildings as well as opening a number of spaces for the community for the benefit of the residents,” concluded Minister Roderick Galdes.

Also present for the inauguration was the Santa Luċija Mayor Charmaine St. John.
