With the theme ” Let’s make it happen together ” , Prime Minister Robert Abela spoke about the implementation of the electoral program during the last two years during a news conference in the Berġa of Castile. At the forefront, the improvement in the living of the Maltese and Gozitan people, with cheaper energy bills. He stressed that stability comes from lower prices, both of energy bills and of essential food products, led to the confidence that translated into more economic growth. The Prime Minister said that ” Not only have we continued to record the highest growth in the European Union, but more than that, wealth is reaching more people .”
He referred to the Eurostat figures which show that national wealth head to head is exceeding the Euro Zone average. A significant achievement when eleven years ago the Eurozone had wealth per capita of 21% better than that of our country. And because the economy is doing well, claimed Dr. Abela, the Government could give increases in the Children’s Allowance, increases in pensions and new aids to first-time buyers and to parents whose children continue to study after the compulsory age . This is in addition to the additional aid against the cost of living with a new mechanism for the most vulnerable.
Regarding the environment, a new initiative announced by Prime Minister Robert Abela was the project through which Wied Incita in Ħ’Attard will begin to be enjoyed by the public in just a few more months. The same for the project in Ta’ Qali which will be able to start being enjoyed from next month. Elenka worked for the Project Green agency and how it is working on more new spaces that will be accessible in just five minutes on foot for more than 12,000 people.
Talk about the job market and how we have the lowest unemployment rate in history. Explain how for every person who registers for a job there are eight jobs that must be filled. He said that that meant that people of other nationalities were needed who brought with them certain challenges. Dr. Abela said that , ” That ‘s why we introduced the skills passport in the tourism sector, that’s why we’re regulating rentals with higher standards, that’s why we introduced new rules for those who want to drive a car with a Y-Plate in our country and that’s why we introduced the first law on temping agencies. ” Regarding the temping agencies the Prime Minister announced that the law has come into force and that up to now 31 operators have registered so that now the operators have a chance until 1 June 2024 to adjust their operation.
Regarding capital investments, the Prime Minister stressed that the Government has invested a record sum in infrastructural, educational, sporting, maritime, social and environmental projects. This while Malta remained a strong international voice and continued to strengthen its reputation.
The Prime Minister Robert Abela concluded by saying that Malta will remain a reformist, offering a better quality of life for the benefit of all the Maltese and Gozitan people.
