Minister Ian Borg meets the new Polish Foreign Affairs Minister

In Warsaw, Poland, the Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade Ian Borg had a bilateral meeting with the new Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski.

During this meeting, both delegations continued to confirm their similar views on a number of themes particularly on that of stopping the invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. Minister Ian Borg, even as Chairperson-In-Office of the OSCE, continued to support the need for more cooperation from the participating states in this organization to continue making all efforts possible to stop Russia’s unprecedented attack.

“Despite these challenges, we believe that the OSCE can play a very important role in diplomatic efforts,” asserted Minister Borg. Here, Minister Sikorski reiterated their support for Malta’s role as Chairperson-In-Office of this important organisation.

The bilateral relations between the two countries were also on the agenda of this meeting. The two countries once again reaffirmed their willingness to continue their discussions to further strengthen their relationship, particularly in light of trade and business growth between Malta and Poland in recent years in the tourism and education areas.

During this meeting other themes were also discussed, including cultural and educational collaborations, research and innovation, immigration, tensions in the region and the strengthening of the European Union.

In Warsaw, Minister Borg also had a meeting with the Director of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights within the OSCE Matteo Meccaci where important themes were discussed to further strengthen the important role of this directorate.
