The Maltese Authorities identify a case of abduction of a minor from Sweden

In the last hours the Central Authority (Central Authority), which is part of the Social Welfare Standards Authority, was informed of an alleged case of abduction of a one-year-old girl from Sweden. It turns out that the girl’s parents were stopped at Malta International Airport by the Police after fleeing with the girl from Sweden. This is at the same time that the Swedish Authorities issued a protection order on the girl.

The Central Authority is currently working together with the Child Protection Directorate in the FSWS, as well as with the Swedish Authorities in order to make the necessary arrangements so that the minor can go back to her country.

Currently the girl is in the care of the Maltese Authorities and is being given all the necessary care and assistance.
